Halo Education vs Toddle: Curriculum-anchored AI for AU/NZ schools

Last reviewed:

Toddle is an IB-first AI-LMS hosted in a shared cloud — student data lives in Toddle’s environment and AI features unlock only at the top pricing tier. Halo Education is school-hosted: it deploys into your own Microsoft tenant, ships pre-built dashboards, agents and Studio out of the box, and every AI output cites real ACARA, NCEA or KHDA codes — the standards your reports and inspections actually reference. If your school runs WACE, NESA, VCE or NCEA, Halo is built for your stack.

Where Halo wins

Outputs your inspectors actually accept

Halo cites real ACARA strand codes, NCEA assessment standards or KHDA inspection criteria in every plan, IEP and report. The agents are instructed never to invent codes. Toddle’s planner uses your curriculum map as prompt context — adequate for IB unit planning where Toddle’s full LMS holds the context, thin for AU/NZ standards-based audit where inspectors expect real codes.

Your tenant, not Toddle’s tenant

Halo deploys inside your Microsoft Entra environment. Identifiable student data sits in the teacher’s browser; only pseudonyms and aggregates ever cross the wire. With Toddle, student records live in Toddle’s shared multi-tenant cloud. For Catholic dioceses, state schools and any board that needs “data must not leave us” on paper, the difference is structural — not a setting.

One price, everything included

Halo charges one number per FTE and ships every feature — Studio, voice modes, agents, dashboards, every preview release — on day one. Toddle gates AI to its Ultimate tier, gates voice and multimodal further, and meters every student into the bill. Schools end up budgeting around the tier cliff. Halo’s pricing is unmodular by design.

Where Toddle might fit

Schools deeply committed to IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP, CP) using Toddle as their primary LMS — gradebook, ePortfolios, parent comms — will find migrating away costly. Halo is built to live alongside an LMS, not replace one. If IB unit-planning is your strongest constraint, Toddle is the established choice for that workflow.

How AU/NZ schools move from Toddle to Halo

Layer-on, not replace. Toddle stays for unit planning and gradebook; Halo handles the standards-anchored work — IEPs, NAPLAN explainers, pastoral check-ins, and custom apps over school data. Production deployment is scripted — your IT team runs it from a published runbook into your Azure tenant. SIS connectors land per-connector; the first one is typically complete in week one.

FAQs

Can we keep Toddle and add Halo?

Yes. Halo is not an LMS. Toddle owns your planner and gradebook layer; Halo lives alongside as the agentic builder over your school data.

Does Halo replace Toddle’s IB MYP workflows?

No. Halo grounds in IB-adjacent curricula but does not ship PYP/MYP/DP/CP unit-planning workflows. It is a different layer.

Is student data shared with Halo?

No identifiable records ever reach Halo or any AI provider. Names, dates of birth, grades and attendance stay in the teacher’s browser; pseudonyms and aggregates are all that crosses the wire.

Does Halo charge for AI like Toddle’s Ultimate tier?

No. Every AI feature — Studio, agents, voice, page summaries — is included in the single per-FTE price. There are no AI gates, no preview-feature tiers and no add-on licences.

Which works better for ACARA, NESA or WACE?

Halo. AI outputs cite real codes from the live standards. Toddle’s IB-first model treats AU curricula as a template layer.
